(Baghdad: Al Furat News) A member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Abbas Sarout, confirmed that the two bombings in the capital, Baghdad, this morning bear the hallmarks of ISIS terrorist gangs.
“After its collapse, ISIS wants to prove its existence, and its operations are an indication that it is here and there,” Sorout told Al-Furat News.
He pointed out that “security in Baghdad has been almost stable for more than a year, and the security footprint is clear by the security leaders and Baghdad operations and others in many areas.”
He pointed out that “ISIS exploits any vacuum that exists in Baghdad, as it concerns public opinion more than others, to implement its terrorist goals.”
And a member of the Parliamentary Security Committee added: “There will be procedures by the Security and Defense Committee and perhaps summoning security leaders in Baghdad.”
He stressed that “the intelligence effort is supposed to intensify because the battle with ISIS is still ongoing, and it is an intelligence battle,” noting that “ISIS does not have the ability and ability to launch a strategic military attack, as it relies on suicide bombers and other cowardly means.”
Two suicide bombers blew themselves up this morning in Tayaran Square in Bab al-Sharqi district in the center of the capital, Baghdad, killing 28 people and wounding more than 73 others, in a toll that is still preliminary, according to the Joint Operations Command.
