The State of Law Coalition expected, today, Thursday, to hold a new session of Parliament in order to make amendments to the controversial laws and pass them in a different way than before, at the request of the Federal Court.
Coalition member Imran Karkoush told Al-Maalouma Agency, “The complaint filed before the Federal Court regarding the general amnesty law is related to the way it was passed in one basket with other laws, and the problem is related to the nature of the performance of the parliament presidency and how laws are passed, and the court may call for a review and another session to vote on the laws.
” He added, “Ultimately, a new session of parliament will be held to amend the laws and pass them, and this is a very big possibility.”
He pointed out that “the Progress Party and other parties want to maintain their influence in the Sunni provinces, especially with the approaching date of the parliamentary elections next October, but we do not want to pass the general amnesty in this way and with its current provisions,” noting that “the electoral issue is the main influence on all interactions, politics and relations between the blocs in the next stage.” It is
noteworthy that the head of the Progress Alliance, who was expelled from parliament after being convicted of forgery, Mohammed al-Halbousi, threatened the Federal Court following its decision to stop the implementation of the general amnesty, personal status and real estate return laws based on a parliamentary appeal.
