Former MP Ahmed Al-Hajj confirmed today, Thursday, that the Kurdistan Regional Government refuses to meet the demands of the sit-inners to deposit their salaries in federal banks to cover up corruption and multiple salaries.

Al-Hajj said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “The protesters in Sulaymaniyah are demanding the implementation of the Federal Court’s decision regarding the settlement of their salaries in federal banks, but the Kurdistan Regional Government is not meeting their demands and is refusing settlement to cover up corruption, multiple salaries and fakes,” indicating that “the economic situation in the region is very miserable due to the corrupt alliances between a group of political parties in the Kurdistan Region and a group of parties in the center.”

He added, “We do not exonerate the federal government from this issue. When a decision is issued by the Federal Court to localize the salaries of the region’s employees, the central government is favoring the Kurdistan Democratic Party at the expense of the rights of Kurdish citizens,” noting that “the living and economic conditions in the region are still at square one without any solutions.”

It is noteworthy that thousands of teaching staff have been protesting in Sulaymaniyah for days in protest of the delay in disbursing their salaries, despite Baghdad sending large sums of money to the Kurdistan Regional Government, despite not delivering oil and non-oil revenues.
