Rights - Plasschaert banned manual counting and sorting of polling results and the coming hours will witness a major escalationA member of the Human Rights Movement, Sabah Al-Ardawi, confirmed that the UN representative, Jenin Plaschaert, had the most prominent role in preventing the process of counting and hand-sorting the election results, pointing out that the coming hours will witness a major escalation in the event that the Commission does not respond to the demands of the Iraqi people.

Al-Ardawi told Al-Maalouma, “Most of the political parties are aware and certain that the votes of voters and candidates have been stolen, which is what prompted the Iraqi people to come out with a large demonstration and turn it into a sit-in to demand the recovery of the stolen votes.”

He added that “the United Nations interfered negatively in the election file, led by the UN representative, Jenin Plaschaert, as it played a negative role when it intervened and refused the manual counting and sorting despite popular demands to do it.”

And he indicated that “the Iraqi street is boiling because of the election results, as the commission bears full responsibility for what will lead to matters as a result of popular anger over voter fraud, and it is likely that a significant escalation of the sit-in will take place in the coming hours.”
