Today, Thursday, a member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Sayhoud, revealed a government move to lift the American sanctions imposed on Iraqi banks, while confirming that the work of the Iraqi committees continues on the issue of removing American combat forces from the country.
Al-Sayhoud said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “The work of the joint committees is not limited to removing American combat forces only, but will include other aspects,” noting that “the life of the government will not end without removing all foreign forces from the country.”
He continued, “There may be a disagreement in the method of removing these forces and ending the military presence, but the goal is the same and will not be divided,” pointing out that “there are new agreements regarding ending the foreign presence.”
Al-Sayhoud concluded his speech by saying: “The government must be given the opportunity to prove its presence during negotiations with Washington through joint committees,” adding that there is “a government move to lift the American sanctions imposed on Iraqi banks.”
The economic expert, Nasser Al-Kanani, confirmed that the number of Iraqi banks affected by US sanctions has reached 26 banks so far.
In an interview with the Maalouma Agency, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Moeen Al-Kazemi, criticized “the US Federal Reserve’s sanctions on Iraqi banks in an attempt to undermine the government’s success.”
