Researcher - The Sudanese government concealed the currency printing process after corruption became rampantThe Iraqi affairs researcher, Muwaffaq al-Khattab, revealed on Tuesday that the previous government, headed by Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, concealed its intention to print 25 trillion dinars in currency to cover the financial deficit resulting from rampant corruption and the deteriorating economic situation in the country. Al-Khattab told the Information Agency that “the decision to print this amount of currency came as a result of Iraq’s approaching economic collapse, amidst escalating corruption cases estimated at billions of dollars without holding those involved accountable.”
He added that “economic developments, including those related to regional instability and the potential impact on oil exports, have negatively affected the country’s financial situation, given that oil is the primary source of revenue.”
Al-Khattab pointed out that “conflicting statements have been issued by official bodies regarding the matter, ranging from denial to clarification, which has sparked widespread controversy in economic circles and among the public.”
He called for “strengthening oversight of public funds, combating corruption, and recovering stolen funds to avoid any additional pressure on the national economy and currency stability.”
