The Parliamentary Economic and Investment Committee submitted, on Saturday, 8 proposals to the government to maximize revenues, move the market and reduce imports.
“It is important for the government to seriously consider adopting economic activities that contribute to maximizing revenues, absorbing unemployment, moving the market and reducing import amounts, and all these benefits can be achieved through revitalizing the private sector and supporting it by various means,” said Mazen Al-Faily, a member of the committee.
Al-Faily added, “We suggest a set of steps to achieve this important goal:
1. Supporting medium and small productive projects with loans, taking into account the inclusion of those with experience and skill in partnership with holders of higher degrees in the specializations related to the subject. Note that the Iraqi market consumption indicators according to specialists consume about three billion dollars annually. Of the materials that are easy to manufacture in Iraq
2. Support agricultural and industrial projects and livestock and their food industry by tightening procedures, controlling border crossings and activating the standardization and quality control device
3. Standardizing the customs tariff in all ports and doubling the importer’s fees similar to the local product
4. Restricting import With a leave with a specific activity and for materials that cannot be manufactured locally
5. Monitor the currency auction activity to be restricted in selling it for hard currency with the above procedures, and as a result large sums of money were acquired by parasitic banks that do not engage in any economic development activity and those recovered sums can be directed to support projects industrial and agricultural productivity.
6. Cancel the Council of Ministers resolution No. (435) for the year 2018 and the entry of private cars damaged And work according to Cabinet Resolution 145 of 2016, which will provide job opportunities for a large number of professionals in car maintenance and reduce the out of the country for hard currency.
7- To oblige all ministries and state departments to purchase locally manufactured products and to conform to standard specifications.
8- Addressing the issue of foreign workers in Iraq, it is unreasonable that Iraqi youth suffer from a lack of work opportunities while hundreds of thousands of foreign workers are flocking.
