Iraqi sources revealed on Sunday that Iraq recently sold 10 million barrels of oil through its southern ports, at a discount ranging between $25 and $28 per barrel.
Sources told the “Energy” platform, as reported by Shafaq News Agency, that most of these shipments were obtained by Indian companies, indicating that they were loaded from the southern ports a few days ago.
In contrast, two other sources explained, according to the platform, that Iraq has not been able to sell any barrels of oil at a price exceeding $100 since the beginning of the Iran-Iraq War, despite global prices rising to about $117 per barrel in the last trading session.
For his part, a source at the Iraqi Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) said: “We have not been able to sell oil for more than $85 a barrel recently, and about a month ago the company sold some shipments of light oil for about $90 a barrel.”
It is worth noting that the “Eco Iraq” observatory, which specializes in economic affairs, announced yesterday, Saturday, that the value of Iraqi crude oil exports amounted to about $37.39 billion, compared to the export of 533.46 million barrels during the nine months of 2026.
