Mohammed al-Khalidi, a leader in the Development and Reconstruction Coalition, confirmed on Saturday that the withdrawals from the coalition over the past two days were not unexpected. He also highlighted three points he described as important for the coalition’s future.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Khalidi said, “The Development and Reconstruction Coalition is a crucial part of the political process in the country. It won the most seats in the February 2025 elections, so the withdrawals were not surprising to us.”
He added, “The coalition is strong and resilient, relying on several fundamental pillars, most notably its clear political project.” He pointed out that “important developments will occur after Eid al-Adha, which will undoubtedly confirm that the Development and Reconstruction Coalition is a force to be reckoned with in the political equation.”
Al-Khalidi emphasized that “the coalition played an active role in the formation of the current government, in order to manage the country’s affairs and address the political deadlock, thus ensuring the best interests of the people.”
He indicated that “after Eid al-Adha, there will be serious efforts to complete the cabinet, and the Development and Reconstruction Coalition will be strongly present to push the government formation process forward and launch development and reconstruction projects.”
