Shafaq News/ The prominent Iraqi politician, former MP Mithal Al-Alusi, warned today, Sunday, against repeating the Afghanistan scenario in Iraq after the US withdrawal from the country, at the end of this year.
Al-Alusi told Shafak News Agency; “There are great fears among the political and popular circles of the total American withdrawal from Iraq, as this matter will open the way for the Iranian-backed militias to fully control the political, security and economic file, and for this the American withdrawal may repeat the Afghanistan scenario in Iraq, through Iran and its militias are in complete control of Iraq.
And between the former Iraqi MP; That “the US presence in Iraq is a guarantee that Iraq will not be completely occupied by Iran and the political and armed groups, and for this there are many influential political parties as well as popular circles with the US presence in Iraq, to prevent Iraq from officially turning into a province affiliated with Iran.”
