Political analyst Qasim al-Tamimi believes that the decisions of the al-Sudani government are not binding on the incoming government, noting the possibility of canceling and reconsidering them.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, “The next government faces a number of challenges related to the country’s financial situation, including how to eliminate internal and external debt and ensure the necessary liquidity to pay employee salaries.”
He added, “The al-Sudani government launched many projects and created thousands of job opportunities, which has significantly burdened the budget after the decline in oil revenues and the drop in oil prices, at a time when Iraq needs more than 8 trillion dinars monthly to pay salaries and entitlements.”
He explained that “the recent decisions made by the al-Sudani government regarding increasing fees and not recognizing academic qualifications are all non-binding on the incoming government. They can be rejected, suspended, or amended to suit the country’s current situation.”
