Ali Hussein, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Sunday that the vacant ministerial portfolios in Al-Zidi’s cabinet will soon be filled, explaining that the failure to submit more than one candidate for each ministerial portfolio was one of the reasons for the delay in filling the government positions.
Hussein told Al-Maalomah that “the mechanism for submitting candidates for the ministerial cabinet has changed from previous sessions, where political blocs used to put forward three candidates for each ministerial portfolio, with one of them being chosen if the candidate with the first ranking was rejected.”
He added that “the political blocs’ decision to present one candidate for each ministerial portfolio created confusion in the process of selecting ministers, since the rejection of the candidate during the confidence vote session was not met with the presentation of an alternative candidate for a vote.”
He explained that “most political blocs have moved beyond the issue of selecting candidates and are now determined to finalize their ministerial portfolios,” noting that “the Interior Ministry portfolio remains undecided, despite a political inclination to resolve the ministerial positions.”
