Political analyst Muhammad Karim al-Saadi said that the government’s silence about the actions of the US embassy confirms the existence of Washington’s authority over Baghdad, pointing out that the increase in foreign forces in Iraq stands behind previous deals and agreements.
Al-Saadi told “the information”, that “there is a suspicious silence from the government about the increase in the number of foreign forces in Iraq, as this silence indicates the existence of an implicit agreement on increasing the forces.”
He added that “the Erbil attack may be contrived in order to use it as a pretext to increase the number of foreign forces in Iraq, without returning to the Iraqi government in terms of agreeing or not to increase these forces.”
And that “the government’s failure to come out with any clarifications about the increase in NATO forces in Iraq confirms the presence of the US embassy’s authority over the political decision in Iraq, especially since there is no response to any action it takes inside the capital.”
