MP Mohammed Al-Hasnawi, from the parliamentary Rights Bloc, warned today, Sunday, of a great danger threatening Iraq’s security and sovereignty as a result of postponing the vote on the Ministries of Defense and Interior until political understandings are completed, criticizing the government’s inability to complete the cabinet.
Al-Hasnawi told Al-Maalouma that “the current data and security challenges facing Iraq and the region require that the Interior and Defense ministries be at the forefront of the ministries that are voted on to complete their structure in the right way.”
He added that “leaving these two sovereign ministries without serious action to resolve their issues represents a deep problem that reflects insufficient attention to the issue of sovereignty and national security.”
In the context of the suspicions surrounding the mechanisms of the confidence vote session, Al-Hasnawi revealed that “the Rights Movement submitted an official request to the House of Representatives to obtain the CD containing the full recording of the voting session,” stressing that “the movement has not received the recording yet, without knowing the reasons.”
The MP called on political forces to “abandon self-interests and refrain from quotas in selecting candidates for vacant portfolios,” noting that “the Iraqi people do not deserve a government incapable of completing its ministerial formation.”
Regarding the circulating reports about finalizing the remaining ministerial portfolios by mid-July, Al-Hasnawi clarified that “this date is not yet confirmed,” noting at the same time that “the Rights Movement is not seeking any ministerial post and will not oppose the approval of any qualified and professional candidate.”
