Member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, MP Ibtisam Al-Hilali, revealed today, Thursday, the most prominent laws that are expected to be completed during the next stage, in preparation for submitting them to the Presidency of the House of Representatives and voting on them after the end of the Eid holiday, stressing that there is a serious move to resolve the outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil, foremost among them the oil and gas law.In a statement to Al-Maalomah News Agency, Al-Hilali said, “The Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee has reached understandings with the government regarding the preparation and organization of a draft oil and gas law, with the active participation of the Legal Committee, with the aim of finalizing this strategic legislation.”
She added that “the law will regulate the production and export of oil wealth, contributing to ending the ongoing disputes between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region regarding the management of the oil sector.”
She indicated that “the upcoming legislative session will also witness the discussion and completion of a package of laws affecting a wide segment of the population,” noting that “the most prominent of these laws relate to amendments to the State Employees’ Retirement and Discipline Law, as well as finalizing the law determining the legal retirement age.”
