The Parliamentary Integrity Committee confirmed, on Sunday, that the file of the theft of the century is being followed up seriously and daily by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and the committee, while it revealed that sums of the stolen money had been recovered.
The deputy head of the committee, Alia Nassif, said in a statement to Al-Maalouma, “The investigation regarding the deal of the century is going well, and there is daily follow-up by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani and the Integrity Committee,” revealing that “good amounts of tax money have been recovered, and a number of the accused have been withdrawn.” As well as the issuance of new arrest warrants.
Nassif added, “The Parliamentary Integrity Committee appealed to the President of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, in cooperation with the investigation committee, by handing over one of the accused who is in the region, Hussein Kawa, who has (600) billion dinars in his custody.”
She explained, “Those involved in the crime of stealing the century are divided into two parts: the first has documents and evidence, and the other part is like the masterminds, and among these are former ministers in the Al-Kazemi government.”
The representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Ali Turki, called in a previous statement, the parliamentary integrity to tighten control over the investigation department in the Integrity Commission, indicating that imposing real and strict control over the Integrity Investigation Department will prevent the passage of a corruption deal like the theft of the century.
