The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed, on Sunday, that no paragraph will be passed in the 2021 budget that includes a deduction for employees’ salaries, while the government called for sending the budget to Parliament to pass it and not be satisfied with the statements through the media.
A member of the Finance Committee, Naji Al-Saeedi, said, “Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi made do with statements through the media to download the House of Representatives to delay the 2021 budget, and he has not yet sent it to the Council.”
He added that “there are several letters addressed to Al-Kazemi about the need to expedite sending the 2021 budget and there is no benefit from it, and Al-Kazemi is busy with the media and loading Parliament to delay it despite its lack of arrival,” noting that “the latter informed the Council of sending it before the end of this month and we are waiting for its arrival.”
Al-Saeidy explained that “any government move to deduct part of the salaries of employees in the 2021 budget will not pass in the council, and he must take serious action to maximize imports and not limit his work to employee salaries and borrowing.”
