The Parliamentary Finance Committee has ruled out preparing the government’s 2022 budget and voting on it in Parliament before holding the early elections scheduled for next October.
Member of the Committee, MP Muhammad Al-Shabki, told Al-Maalouma, “The Financial Management Law referred to proceeding with the disbursement of amounts and dues according to the 1 by 12 system in the event of delays in preparing the budget or voting on it in Parliament in the new year, and according to the data for the past year.”
He added, “The government is supposed to present the 2022 budget before the end of this year in order to vote on it, but there are elections that will take place next October, which will delay the completion of next year’s budget.”
Al-Shabki ruled out that there would be a demand for the government to prepare the 2022 budget and submit it to Parliament in order to vote on it before the early elections, which will lead to the adoption of the 12/1 system in exchange for the next year. 25 n
