Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Basim al-Gharabi, explained on Saturday that the Ministry of Finance is currently working on determining the amounts allocated for the Emergency Support Law in preparation for sending it to the Central Bank and then presenting it for a vote in Parliament.
Al-Gharabi told the Information Agency that “the Ministry is currently responsible for setting the financial ceiling for the law in a way that meets essential needs,” noting that “technical and legal procedures require auditing the amounts before proceeding with the legislation to ensure transparency in the allocation.”
He added that “the goal of accurately determining the amounts is to ensure that the borrowed funds are spent correctly and to prevent diverting these funds to frivolous investment projects or wasting them on unproductive projects,” stressing that Parliament will have the final say in passing the amounts that exclusively serve the citizens.
He pointed out that “the Finance Committee is closely monitoring the Ministry of Finance’s work on this matter,” noting that the priority will be securing urgent living and service requirements, avoiding the financial waste that accompanied some previous projects.
