The parliamentary finance committee announced on Saturday that there is progress regarding the 2027 budget, noting that it will include the regularization of some contracts. Committee member Jamal Kojar told Alsumaria TV that “discussions are ongoing regarding the 2027 budget, as the government has developed a program that is being continuously updated with data.” He explained that “there are ongoing meetings between the Ministry of Finance and the spending units in the ministries and governorates, with regular follow-up by members of the finance committee who participate in these meetings.” He added that “there is progress on this issue,” clarifying that “according to the Minister of Finance’s statement, the budget will be in the House of Representatives on October 15.”
He also added, “According to the statements of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, the budget will include the regularization of some contracts and appointments for the top three and higher grades,” noting that “this matter remains dependent on the security and economic situation of the country. If we proceed with increasing the quantities of oil sold, there may be an achievement of that, but if the situation deteriorates, everything is subject to change.”
He also explained that “SOMO suggested that the estimated price of a barrel of oil in the budget be between $53-$56, while the government’s opinion is between $60-$70.”
