Member of Parliament Mahmoud al-Shammari called on the leaders of the Coordination Framework on Wednesday to direct the convening of an extraordinary parliamentary session to resolve the issue of the presidency, stressing the need to proceed with the election without being hindered by the “gambles” of obstructive political agreements.
Al-Shammari told the Information Agency that “the continued delay in electing a president has caused a complete paralysis of state institutions, and its negative effects have begun to cast a shadow on the economic situation and the livelihoods of citizens,” explaining that “the crisis is purely political and must be resolved with a courageous national decision.”
He added that “the current stage cannot tolerate further waiting for the outcome of the talks between the two Kurdish parties,” noting that “the responsibility lies with all political forces to proceed with completing the constitutional requirements and ending the paralysis that is crippling the government.”
Al-Shammari pointed out that “exceeding the constitutional deadlines now poses a danger to the political system, which necessitates holding the extraordinary session urgently to put an end to this deadlock.”
