MP Duha Al-Bahadli, from the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Saturday that the recent administrative changes made by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zidi must be evaluated according to the legal and administrative frameworks specified for them, stressing that Parliament possesses the necessary constitutional tools to hold accountable any overstepping of powers.
Al-Bahadli told Al-Maalomah, “If these changes fall within the executive powers guaranteed by law, they do not require a vote within the House of Representatives, but rather remain subject to direct parliamentary oversight to ensure the integrity of the procedures and their compliance with the applicable regulations.”
The MP added that “if these amendments affect sovereign positions, administrative formations, or powers that have legal implications requiring the approval of the legislative authority or the Cabinet, then completing the constitutional procedures and obtaining the approvals of the competent authorities becomes a mandatory condition under the law.”
Al-Bahadli explained that “the role of the House of Representatives is focused on exercising oversight to ensure the legality of these steps and to guarantee that they serve the public interest according to standards of efficiency and transparency.”
She indicated that “if any legal violation or overstepping of granted powers is proven, the Council will not hesitate to use its oversight and constitutional tools to follow up on the matter and take appropriate measures.”
