The presidency of the parliament, on Saturday, is about to say that the new legislative term will increase the number of sessions, pointing out that the committees will proceed with the legislative procedures for draft laws and proposals.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bashir Khalil Al-Haddad, stated that “he has officially announced the beginning of the first legislative term of the third legislative year of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, and that it will hold its first session on Saturday 5/9/2020.”
Al-Haddad added: “The new legislative chapter will increase the number of sessions, and the committees will proceed with the legislative procedures for laws and proposals, and will be full of parliamentary work to compensate for long periods of time due to the Corona pandemic that disrupted most activities in all state institutions.”
He continued, “The committees’ meetings will continue, and they were already present throughout the past period, with the monitoring activities and field follow-up of the representatives. There are a number of draft laws and proposals, some of them postponed from previous sessions and the procedures for their legislation have not been completed. Parliament. ”
The most important things included in the session’s agenda:
Completing the Parliament elections law.
– The first reading of the draft law amending the Federal Supreme Court Law, and the draft law of ministers and ministries.
– A proposed law to amend the Personal Status Law No. 188 of 1959, in addition to presenting and discussing other law proposals and general issues
