A security source in Anbar province confirmed on Sunday that a security force from Baghdad unexpectedly raided two farms belonging to two prominent figures, one of whom is a member of parliament.
The source told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “a security force from Baghdad raided the farm of MP and leading member of the Progress Party, Samia Ghallab, following intelligence reports indicating that relatives of the director of the Central Electricity Distribution Company, Alaa Samir al-Dulaimi, a leading member of the Progress Party currently detained in Baghdad, were hiding sums of money on Ghallab’s farm in the Saqlawiyah district, north of Ramadi.”
The source added that “a security force arriving from Baghdad also raided, just minutes ago, the farm of the director of the Central Electricity Distribution Company, Alaa Samir al-Dulaimi, and seized large sums of money that al-Dulaimi’s son had hidden inside his farm in the al-Saqlawiyah district, north of Fallujah. Intelligence information obtained by the force carrying out the operation led to the confiscation of the money, the exact amount of which was not disclosed.” The source
continued, “The force is still present in Anbar awaiting orders to raid the remaining individuals involved from al-Halbousi’s party in corruption cases, theft of state funds, and smuggling them out of the country.”
