Observers - Iraq is on the verge of a great openness with the West and caution against incitement[Baghdad-Where]
Observers in political affairs said, on Wednesday, that Iraq is on the verge of a major opening with the West, after the French President’s visit to Iraq, Wednesday.
Political analyst Anwar Haidar said, “It is good that there is a Western or special role for France in Iraq, in contrast, you may not get anything much from Iraq in light of the American presence.”
“But on the other hand, France is still a great power, a major European actor and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, and it still has industry, culture and thought, and Iraq can establish more than one joint project and benefit from French expertise,” he added.
As political analyst Hussein Al-Kinani confirmed {to the Euphrates News} that “Iraq today is not isolated from the countries of the world and there are great opportunities for it and for those countries lies in investment and security.”
He added, “Important interests may be the subject of the meeting of these countries in Iraq, provided that these relations are not the subject of interference in Iraqi internal affairs and play a negative and inflammatory role in order to obtain political or economic gains that harm the country’s interests.”
Macron arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday morning on a hours-long visit to Iraq, his first to the country.
Upon his arrival, Macron met with the presidents of the republic, Barham Salih, ministers Mustafa al-Kazemi and the parliament, Muhammad al-Haloubsi, and the meetings focused on expanding the partnership with France, in terms of security and economics, in addition to supporting the sovereignty of Iraq.
