On Monday, a member of the State of Law bloc expressed reservations about the ministerial program of Ali al-Zidi’s government, noting that these reservations were not presented during the confidence vote session held last Thursday.

MP Ibtisam Al-Hilali told Shafaq News Agency that the bloc has some reservations about the ministerial program of Ali Al-Zidi’s government, noting that these reservations were not presented during the session to grant confidence to the government, which was held last Thursday.

She added that among the most prominent observations that were to be raised was the need to address economic inflation within the framework of financial reform, and the dollar exchange rate crisis in the parallel market, in addition to the fact that the ministerial program did not include, according to her, a real solution to the electricity crisis, in light of Iraq’s dependence on Iranian-supplied gas to operate some stations.

She added that the government is required to cancel all decisions issued after the legislative elections and during the caretaker government period, considering that some of those decisions affected a wide segment of citizens in terms of taxes and fees, in addition to their impact on employees with regard to transportation and completing postgraduate studies.

Al-Hilali also called on the Prime Minister to discuss the decisions of Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s government at the next cabinet meeting and to work on canceling them, stressing that they have greatly affected citizens and employees.

During a session held on May 4, attended by 270 members, the Iraqi parliament voted to grant confidence to 14 ministers in Ali Faleh al-Zaidi’s government and to adopt its ministerial program. The vote on a number of ministerial portfolios, including the Interior, Higher Education and Planning ministries, was postponed, with the matter to be resolved after the Eid al-Adha holiday, following objections to some of the candidates.
