Member of Parliament Mukhtar al-Moussawi confirmed on Friday that no final agreement has yet been reached regarding a date for finalizing the nine ministerial portfolios in Ali al-Zaidi’s government.
Al-Moussawi explained to Al-Maalouma that “the meetings and discussions between the political forces in Baghdad have not yet resulted in a final agreement to set a date for the parliamentary session to vote on the candidates for the nine ministerial portfolios that are still being run by acting ministers in Ali al-Zaidi’s government.”
He added that “there are differing viewpoints among the political forces, and therefore, discussions and meetings will resume next week, which may lead to an agreement that will set a date for the parliamentary session to vote.” He noted that the matter “requires more time, but reaching an agreement next week remains possible.”
Al-Moussawi pointed out that “finalizing the formation of the government is very important because it will enable it to implement the government program it promised, especially since the country is experiencing a clear financial and economic crisis that has begun to affect many executive aspects, and directly impacts the issue of salaries.”
