The Nineveh Provincial Council confirmed on Tuesday that the Mosul Dam is safe, noting that its water level is the highest it has been in several years.
Council member Mohammed Jassim al-Kaka’i told Al-Ma’louma that “the situation at the Mosul Dam is secure, and reports of water leaks are unfounded.” He added that “grouting operations are being carried out according to technical and engineering procedures, under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Water Resources.”
He further stated, “We are closely monitoring this matter and confirm that the dam’s water level is the best it has been in several years.” He explained that “the Mosul Dam is a strategic facility not only for Nineveh but for all of Iraq, as it is one of the most important dams on the Tigris River basin.”
Al-Kaka’i pointed out that “the dam represents a strategic water reserve for several provinces, given that the Tigris River is a vital resource and a major artery for water supply.” He emphasized that “the dam is under direct monitoring through the submission of regular reports.”
He confirmed that “the relevant authorities have not detected any negative incidents, and continuous communication is underway with the dam’s management and the Ministry of Water Resources to closely monitor the situation and ensure the safety of its facilities.”
