Wafa Mohammed, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), explained the mechanisms for finalizing and approving the vacant ministerial portfolios in al-Zaidi’s cabinet, stressing the necessity of consensus among political blocs to ensure the approval of the nominees.
Mohammed told Al-Maalouma, “Approving the nominees for al-Zaidi’s cabinet primarily requires the agreement of all political blocs,” noting that “the Federal Court rejected the blocs’ appeal regarding the first parliamentary session to grant confidence to al-Zaidi’s government.”
He added that “al-Zaidi has nine ministries that remain undecided, including the Ministry of Construction and Housing, for which Nawzad Hadi has been nominated, in addition to the Ministry of Migration and Displacement, which, although allocated to the Sabean community, is close to being favored by the KDP.”
He indicated that “agreement is still lacking on the Ministries of Interior, Defense, and Education, as everyone is waiting for the political blocs to reach an agreement to ensure the smooth approval of the nominees. There is also a proposal to approve all nominees as a single package.”
