The two parties in the Kurdistan Region, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, are moving towards resolving the political crisis, resuming bilateral dialogues, and also activating the work of the regional parliament during the coming period, according to leaders in the two parties.

The spokesman for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Karwan Kazani, said during a press conference held on Monday, which was attended by Shafaq News Agency, that “the Patriotic Union and the Democratic Party are two different political parties, each with its own vision and mechanisms, but they have many commonalities.”

Kaznei added that “efforts are underway to hold a meeting between the two sides in the near future, expressing his hope that these meetings will contribute to strengthening understanding and coordination between the two main parties in the region.”

For his part, Kurdistan Democratic Party leader Ari Harsin, during a press conference held today and attended by Shafaq News Agency, affirmed that “the Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union, before being political parties, are Kurdish parties working to serve the Kurdish people,” indicating that “citizens expect them to cooperate and work together to serve the interests of the region.”

Hersin noted that “the areas of convergence between the two sides are greater than the points of disagreement,” expressing his hope that dialogues between the two parties would resume in the next few days.

Regarding the relationship between the two sides, he explained that “the media war that existed previously has stopped,” noting that there are “very positive messages that reflect a mutual desire for rapprochement.”

Harsin considered that “the participation of a delegation from the Democratic Party in congratulating the National Union on the anniversary of its founding represents a positive political message towards strengthening relations.”

Regarding the Kurdistan Parliament file, Harsin confirmed that “the parliament will be activated during the next stage,” indicating that “its work will resume after reaching understandings and joint discussions with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.”

Last Tuesday, Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani invited political forces in the Kurdistan Region to a meeting after Eid al-Adha to address the deadlock and end the “tense” political situation.
