Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday that his Likud party is the largest party in Israel, and that the right-wing camp has a “large, influential” and “decisive” majority, calling for the formation of a strong national government and rejecting the establishment of a government that relies on Arab lists.

In a speech delivered after the release of the exit poll results in the general election, Netanyahu added that Israel was still waiting for the final results, which he said would confirm Likud’s lead, stressing the need for the Zionist and Jewish majority to remain united.

He warned against “putting Israel in danger” by forming a government based on Arab lists that he described as “non-Zionist,” accusing politicians and media outlets of trying to promote and normalize this option.

On the Iranian issue, Netanyahu said that his government had removed an “existential threat” from Israel, and that it had dealt blows to the Iranian regime, considering that Iran had become weak while Israel had become strong.

Netanyahu pledged to remove the Iranian threat “forever,” in cooperation with US President Donald Trump, but indicated that the confrontation was not over as long as the Iranian regime existed, adding that it would try again to destroy Israel.

He also said that his government had set rules that changed the face of the Middle East, and had erected security barriers inside Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

In this context, the Central Elections Committee announced on Wednesday that 51.8% of the votes had been counted, with the results showing that Netanyahu had won 55 seats, Change 49, and the Arab parties 16.
