Burhan Sheikh Raouf, a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), affirmed that his party respects the will of the Coordination Framework regarding the selection of the Prime Minister, noting the importance of consensus and agreement within the framework on the position.
Sheikh Raouf told Al-Maalomah that “the Kurdish political bloc respects the will of the Coordination Framework and its choices regarding the selection of the prime minister for the next phase and the formation of the new government.”
He added that “there is a possibility of proceeding with the selection of the president, leaving the matter in the hands of the Coordination Framework to finalize its candidate for prime minister through consensus and agreement among all parties, so that he can be tasked with forming the government.”
He explained that “it is difficult to predict when the selection of the president will be finalized at the present time, despite the existence of understandings within the Kurdish political bloc, but this also requires a quorum and the necessary number of votes to pass the presidential nomination for the next phase.”
