MP Alia Nassif revealed on Wednesday the real reasons behind the delay in forming the government, stressing that the external veto imposed on the prime ministerial candidate is the main reason for obstructing the formation of the cabinet.
Nassif told the Information Agency that “the delay in forming the government is not only related to internal disputes, but is primarily due to external pressures and international rejection of some candidates,” adding that “this external veto is what has prevented progress in completing the constitutional requirements.”
She added that “Iraq needs an independent national decision, free from foreign interference,” noting that “the continuation of this situation exacerbates the political crisis and affects the performance of state institutions.”
Nassif pointed out that “the formation of the government must be done in accordance with the supreme national interest, far removed from external dictates,” stressing that “the next stage requires internal consensus that puts Iraq first.”
