{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The head of the Iraqi coalition, Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim, called for a historic settlement between Baghdad and Erbil in favor of Iraq.
This came during a meeting with Mr. Ammar al-Hakim in his office in Baghdad, today, Wednesday, Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in the presence of a number of members of the leadership body of the Iraqi coalition.
A statement of his office, a copy of which (Al Furat News) received, stated that “during the meeting, the relationship with the Kurds was recalled along the eternal journey in the face of dictatorship and building the modern Iraqi state, while the two sides discussed the importance of cooperation between the forces of moderation and centrism within a national project that brings Iraqis together from its north to its south under The umbrella of faith in a strong state. ”
Mr. Ammar al-Hakim stated that “the current stage needs a new social contract that notes the challenges of the stage and the changes that have occurred,” noting that “some intractable problems are caused by the political system that needs development.”
While stressing “the necessity of resolving the election law and the Federal Court, as they are the most important components of the upcoming elections, the first represents the electoral mechanism and the second represents the party that grants the electoral process its legitimacy,” calling for “a historic settlement between Baghdad and Erbil in terms of profit for all and concession for all and in favor of Iraq.”
The head of the Iraqi coalition revealed, “the conditions for the solution are the availability of political will and mutual compromise between the two parties to reach radical solutions under the umbrella of the law and the constitution,” expressing his “happiness at the presence of leaders capable of carrying these responsibilities,” stressing that “the coalition of Iraqis supports any radical solution within a win-win deal for all.” “.
He reaffirmed “supporting the government in its direction to restore the prestige of the state and confine arms to its hand by confronting groups that target activists and bringing them to justice, as well as confronting the abusive and exploiting elements of the demonstrations to cause chaos and devastation,” noting that “restoring the prestige of the state is one of the conditions for holding elections. Capable of providing a competitive atmosphere between the candidates and the political blocs. ”
Mr. Ammar al-Hakim also stressed, “supporting the government’s approach in combating corruption and the importance of Baghdad and Erbil cooperation in this file.”
For his part, Nechirvan Barzani stressed “the necessity to find a solution to the outstanding problems between Baghdad and Erbil and to go to real and radical solutions based on the enjoyment by all parties of the political will for a solution,” blessing the “emergence of an Iraqi coalition.”
He stated that “the ISIS crisis proved that Erbil is concerned with everything that is happening in Baghdad and prompted some to leave the idea that Erbil is not concerned with what is happening in Baghdad,” noting that “any threat to Baghdad is a threat to the cities of the region and vice versa.”
Barzani also renewed his support for the Al-Kazemi government, indicating “the importance of investing in international support for Iraq,” stressing “the study of political forces in Erbil for the election law, and that the challenges facing Erbil are the same challenges in all Iraqi provinces.”
