MP Hamid Abbas, from the Badr parliamentary bloc, confirmed on Saturday that the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq has become mandatory, stressing that this entitlement represents a popular and national demand that cannot be reversed.
Abbas told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the continued presence of US forces constitutes a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and hinders the country’s stability,” adding that “Parliament and the government are required to take practical steps to implement the decision to expel these forces.”
He added that “popular and political resistance will not allow the occupation to continue in any form,” stressing that “Iraq has the ability to protect its territory and sovereignty away from any foreign presence.”
Security expert Qatari al-Samarmad revealed that the Iraqi Army’s 7th Division will assume responsibility for managing and protecting Ain al-Assad Air Base in western Anbar following the withdrawal of US and international coalition forces.
