MP: September will see the remaining ministerial portfolios in Al-Zidi’s government finalized

Former State of Law Coalition MP Hussein Mardan revealed the date for filling the vacant ministerial posts in al-Zaidi’s cabinet, following a previous agreement to finalize the vote after the parliamentary recess.
Mardan told Al-Maalouma, “The vacant ministerial posts will be filled during September, according to the political agreement within the coordination framework and in accordance with understandings with the US administration.”
He added, “The political agreement stipulated finalizing the cabinet after the end of the first legislative session of the House of Representatives, but this was postponed until September to allow for further understandings and political balance, as well as to monitor the current regional situation and developments in the region.”
He explained that “Al-Zaydi’s government outreach to the factions is another reason for the delay in finalizing the cabinet and filling the vacant positions. This is in addition to his efforts regarding the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) file and the legislation of the PMF law, as well as his work to achieve a balance in the relationship between Iran and the United States. All of these factors have contributed to the delay in filling the remaining ministerial posts.”
Nine ministerial positions are still awaiting political agreements to determine the candidates for the remaining portfolios in Al-Zaydi’s cabinet. These ministries are: Interior, Defense, Higher Education, Labor and Social Affairs, Planning, Reconstruction and Housing, Youth and Sports, Migration and Displacement, and Culture.
