MP - Failure to open black files will perpetuate the bleeding of money in IraqThe former MP, Fawzi Akram, asserted on Monday that the failure to address what are known as the “black files” will perpetuate the hemorrhage of funds in Iraq indefinitely.
Speaking to Al-Maalomah, Akram stated, “Iraq suffers from the phenomenon of financial and administrative corruption, which is eroding official institutions and causing the squandering of enormous sums of money.” He pointed out that “the ‘Theft of the Century’ and other cases are among the most prominent black files that must be addressed with bold decisions.”
He added that “revealing the details of these files to the public, punishing those involved, and recovering the stolen funds represents a fundamental step on the path to reform.” He explained that “the level of corruption in Iraq has become alarming and necessitates strategic options based on serious and transparent combating it.”
He indicated that “maintaining the current situation means the continued hemorrhage of funds, which will inevitably cast a shadow on the Iraqi public and lead to widespread public anger.” He emphasized that “a large part of the services crisis stems from the interconnectedness and financial and administrative corruption.”
He stressed “the necessity of a serious approach to combating corruption and bringing all those involved to justice without exception.”
