The Ministry of Planning announced on Wednesday a decrease in monthly and annual inflation rates during the month of November. The official spokesman for the ministry, Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi, told the official agency that “the monthly inflation rate, according to the field monitoring of the Statistics Authority, decreased by (0.5%) during the month of November compared to the month of October that preceded it,” indicating that “the annual inflation rate also recorded a decrease of (1%) compared to the same month of 2024.”
Al-Hindawi explained that “this decrease was influenced by the decline in prices in a number of departments, most notably the food and non-alcoholic beverages department, whose prices decreased by (1.3%),” noting that “most other departments witnessed a decrease in their prices, including housing, clothing and footwear, communication, goods and services, and entertainment and culture.”
He added that “some sectors maintained their price levels recorded in the previous month, namely education, transportation, and restaurants, while prices for tobacco, household equipment and supplies, and health recorded a slight increase.”
He also noted that “inflation rates continued their downward trend in Iraq during the past six months, with the exception of September, which witnessed a slight increase in these rates.”
