The Middle Oil Company in the Ministry of Oil announced on Tuesday that it is opening the door for reputable companies to explore exploration blocks, while indicating a move towards reaching an understanding with American companies to develop gas fields in the governorates of Diyala and Anbar. The company’s Director General, Muhammad Yassin Hassan, stated in a statement to the official agency that “the ministry will re-evaluate the partners and exploration blocks,” explaining that “what currently exists are exploration blocks and not proven fields, and the ministry will open the door for reputable companies to explore these blocks.”
He added that “reputable companies have begun to contact the ministry,” noting that “there is a good and strong vision for understanding with American companies, especially in the gas fields that are concentrated in the governorates of Anbar and Diyala.”
He also confirmed “the imminent commencement of the construction of surface facilities in the Mansouriya field, a project referred outside the licensing round,” noting that “the Middle Oil Company seeks to achieve integration through the establishment of integrated gas production and processing units in the fields, given that the Diyala and Anbar fields are widespread and numerous, and some of them may not be large enough, which requires integration with other fields.”
