Ministry of Commerce: Commencement of selling construction materials in cash and installments

The Ministry of Trade announced on Saturday the commencement of procedures for the direct sale of construction materials to citizens in cash and in installments. Areej Hussein Al-Jumaili, Director General of the General Company for Trading in Construction Materials, one of the formations of the Ministry of Trade, stated in a statement to the official agency that “the company has begun procedures for the direct sale of construction materials to citizens, in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, with the aim of meeting their needs and reducing the financial burdens on them, as well as supporting the stability of the local market.”
She added that “the materials included in the sale include all construction, sanitary and electrical materials available at the company,” indicating that “the company works in coordination and cooperation with private sector companies, within the construction cooperation project, to provide reinforcing steel, cement, bricks and various other materials at competitive prices for the local market, and installments are through (Key Card) and payment is for two years.”
Al-Jumaili also pointed out that “this step comes within the framework of the government’s efforts to provide building materials to citizens at reasonable prices, and to enhance their purchasing power, especially in light of the changes in exchange rates and their impact on material prices in local markets,” stressing “the company’s keenness to contribute to price stability and not to burden citizens with additional financial burdens as a result of fluctuations in the dollar exchange rate, in line with the government’s directions aimed at supporting citizens and achieving balance in the local market.”
Earlier, Minister of Trade Mustafa Al-Ani directed that the sale of construction materials be facilitated in cash and in easy installments without interest at the sales centers available in Baghdad and the governorates.
