The former Vice-Chair of the Parliamentary Investment Committee, Suzan Mansour, called on Saturday for regulatory and judicial authorities to open the residential investment file and investigate the sources of ownership of real estate within major residential complexes.
Mansour stated in an interview with Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the residential investment file is a crucial one requiring thorough review by the relevant authorities, particularly concerning the ownership of large properties and real estate within residential complexes by certain individuals.”
She added that “applying the principle of ‘Where did you get this?’ is a necessary step to uncover the sources of funds used to purchase these properties and ensure the protection of public funds.”
She noted that “the committee, during the previous parliamentary session, worked to open several investment files, but faced obstacles and objections that prevented the completion of some required procedures.”
She emphasized that “the investment file in Iraq is a sensitive one that requires continuous monitoring and oversight to ensure fairness and transparency and prevent any exploitation of resources or influence.”
She stressed the importance of activating the oversight role and holding accountable any party proven to be involved in violations or transgressions within investment projects, in order to serve the public interest and protect citizens’ rights.
