Jassim Mohammed Jaafar, a leader in the State of Law Coalition, denied on Tuesday that any agreement had been reached during the recent meeting of the Coordination Framework Forces to replace the coalition’s candidates for the Interior and Higher Education portfolios, stressing that they would adhere to the candidates and present them for a vote in the next session.
Jaafar told Al-Maalomah that “the recent meeting of the Coordination Framework leaders discussed several political issues, including completing the cabinet of Prime Minister al-Zaidi’s government.” He clarified that “there is no truth to the rumors circulating about the State of Law coalition agreeing to replace its nominees for the Ministries of Interior and Higher Education, as some parties have tried to promote.”
He added that “the coalition is holding firm to its nominees and will present them in Parliament during the upcoming extraordinary session dedicated to approving the remaining ministries, leaving the final decision to the members of Parliament.”
Jaafar pointed out that “the nominees of the State of Law coalition, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and the Azm Alliance were treated unfairly and unjustly during the first vote on al-Zaidi’s cabinet.”
