Ibrahim al-Sakini, a member of the State of Law Coalition, revealed on Tuesday that there is a political and parliamentary move to officially announce the formation of the “Alliance of the Strong” immediately after the Eid holiday. He confirmed that the new alliance will adopt a political opposition approach within parliament.
Al-Sakini told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The movement is ongoing and intensifying to launch the Alliance of the Strong immediately after the Eid holiday.” He explained that “the main objective of this bloc is to act as a parliamentary opposition force and monitor executive and legislative performance.”
He added that “the alliance aims to include more than 150 members of parliament from various political forces to form a strong and cohesive opposition front.” He pointed out that “this front will work to correct political paths and truly activate the parliamentary oversight role in the coming period.”
Earlier, Mohammed al-Khalidi, a member of the Coordination Framework, revealed intense political activity aimed at forming new alliances within the Council of Representatives. He indicated that some forces were leaning towards the opposition front led by Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, while Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, was making parallel efforts to form a major parliamentary bloc.
