Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry condemned on Monday the drone attack on Saudi Arabia launched from Iraq, and affirmed its support for any action taken by the Kingdom.
The Ministry said in a statement: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the aggression to which the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was subjected by drones coming from Iraqi airspace, which were successfully intercepted.”
She added, “This is a continuation of a series of flagrant violations of international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2817, and undermines regional security and stability.”
“We affirm our support for the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to preserve its security and stability and ensure the safety of its territories.”
The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday evening that it had intercepted and destroyed three drones after they entered the Kingdom’s airspace coming from Iraqi airspace, vowing to take the necessary operational measures to respond at the appropriate time and place .
The Ministry of Defense spokesman, Turki al-Maliki, said in a statement carried by Shafaq News Agency that “the Ministry of Defense reserves the right to respond at the appropriate time and place, and will take and implement all necessary operational measures to respond to any attempt to attack the sovereignty of the Kingdom, its security, and the safety of its citizens and residents on its territory.”
For its part, the Qatari Foreign Ministry condemned on Monday the attempt to target Saudi Arabia with drones, calling it “an unacceptable attack and a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and the security of the region,” noting that “the State of Qatar renews its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supports all measures it takes to preserve its security and sovereignty.”
