On Monday, the Kuwaiti ambassador in Baghdad informed the Iraqi Foreign Ministry that attacks had been recorded from within Iraqi territory targeting locations inside Kuwaiti territory, and called on the government to put an end to them.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ media office said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, received today, at the Ministry building, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Iraq, Mohammed Hassan Al-Zaman.”

The statement noted that “during the meeting, the developments of the current situation in the region were discussed, as well as the repercussions of the war on regional conditions, where the Undersecretary discussed the seriousness of the current situation in light of the continuation of the war in the region, and its repercussions on regional security and stability.”

According to the statement, Kuwaiti Ambassador Hassan Al-Zaman conveyed his country’s concerns regarding the attacks it is subjected to by Iran. He also provided information about attacks originating from Iraqi territory, calling on the Iraqi government to intervene to put an end to them, in order to preserve the fraternal relations between the two brotherly and neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary Bahr Al-Uloom affirmed that “the Iraqi government is making great and exceptional efforts to spare Iraq the repercussions of the war, and to work on preserving the country’s security and stability in the face of the attacks to which Iraq is exposed, like other countries in the region.”

Bahr al-Uloom stressed that “Iraq rejects the logic of war in general, and especially the use of its territory as a launching pad for targeting neighboring countries,” stressing that “the government is taking all necessary measures, under the direction of the political leadership and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to pursue the perpetrators of any acts that harm the interests of the country and its relations with neighboring countries.”

The statement indicated that “both sides agreed that Iraq and Kuwait are directly affected by the repercussions of the ongoing conflict in the region, stressing the importance of joint cooperation to maintain the security of the region and work to contain the crisis.”

Iraqi armed factions have escalated their targeting of Baghdad, Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports, as well as targets outside Iraq, in conjunction with the direct military confrontation between the United States and Israel on one side, and Iran on the other, which erupted in late February and is still ongoing.
