The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Aso Fredo, confirmed, on Sunday, that the position of the President of the Republic is deserving of the Kurds and the Union in particular, noting that his party is more deserving of the position than the Kurdistan Democratic Party.
Fredo said in a statement to “The Information”, “The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan will not work to disrupt the voting session on the new president of the republic, and it will not be with any party seeking to disrupt the session so that this does not affect the constitutional timings that must be respected by all political parties.”
He added, “The leadership of the National Union believes that Saleh is the best leading figure to take over the position,” noting that “there are understandings between the National Union and the political forces about Saleh’s candidacy for a second term.”
He pointed out that “the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan will not work to disrupt the two-thirds session to vote on the new president of the republic so as not to affect the constitutional timings that must be respected by all political parties.”
The leader of the Change Movement, Othman Adnan, had confirmed earlier that all Kurdish parties reject the candidacy of Hoshyar Zebari because of the corruption files he has and his previous positions. End / 25 h
