Kurdistan Presidency: Nechirvan Barzani is ready to help al-Zaidi resolve Iraq’s crises

The spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Presidency, Dilshad Shahab, confirmed on Monday that relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad are excellent and moving towards further progress, noting that Iraq is going through a very sensitive phase and is facing two acute crises at the present time.
Shahab said in a press conference attended by Shafaq News Agency that “Iraq is currently facing two major problems; the first relates to the economic aspect of exporting Iraqi oil through the Strait of Hormuz, a crisis that arose after the outbreak of war between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other, which put the country in front of financial challenges.”
Shehab added that “the second problem is the issue of loose weapons in the hands of armed groups and how to deal with it,” explaining that “Iraq is going through a very sensitive period while trying to deal with these two crises, and cannot afford to create any additional problems.”
The presidential spokesperson added that “the participation of Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani in the meeting of the State Administration Coalition in Baghdad proved that the region is fully prepared to provide all forms of support and assistance to the Iraqi government to overcome these two obstacles,” noting that “the new Al-Zaidi government is working to resolve internal problems as well as outstanding issues with the region, and there is a genuine will to resolve them without any attempts to keep the crises open.”
Shahab concluded his remarks by saying that “the Kurdistan Region has been and remains supportive of all the steps taken by the Iraqi government towards reform and problem-solving, and the President of the Region is ready to provide all assistance in this regard.”
