Jassim Mohammed Jaafar, a leader in the State of Law Coalition, suggested on Thursday that the vote on only two ministries would be postponed during the confidence vote session scheduled for this afternoon, while confirming that the vote on the deputy prime ministers would be postponed to a later stage. Jaafar told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “current indications suggest the cabinet of Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi will be approved during today’s session,” explaining that “the vote will not cover all ministerial portfolios, as it is likely that only two ministries will be postponed.”
He added that “the voting mechanism for ministers may be conducted as a single package or individually,” warning that “going towards the individual option may expose some candidates to rejection by members of Parliament.”
In a related context, Jaafar emphasized that “the Ministry of Interior portfolio will not be postponed and will be decided today,” revealing that “Qasim Atta is the most prominent candidate for the position.”
It is worth noting that Parliament is holding a special session at 4:00 PM today, Thursday, to grant confidence to the government of Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi and vote on the ministerial program.
