Shipping data showed that vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained sharply low, with fewer than 20 ships recorded crossing the strait over the weekend, amid continued restrictions on navigation.
According to data from Kpler, as reported by Reuters, 13 ships crossed the strait on Saturday and four on Sunday, compared to 16 on Friday.
Data from the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency showed that 89 ships left the strait and 103 entered it during the week ending August 21, a decrease of nearly 90% from pre-conflict levels.
Regarding Iraq, an empty supertanker entered the Gulf via the strait on Friday, bound for Iraq, while other data showed a tanker entering the Red Sea on Saturday carrying Iraqi crude oil from Basra.
The data also indicated that oil tankers accounted for 45% of total shipping traffic through the strait during the period, while ship traffic through the Bab al-Mandab Strait remained at low levels.
