On Tuesday, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Gas Affairs, Izzat Saber Ismail, stressed the importance of expediting the implementation of the associated gas investment project from the Buzurgan, Fakkah and Abu Gharb fields in Maysan Governorate, with a capacity of up to 70 million standard cubic feet per day, with the aim of supplying the national electricity grid and enhancing fuel supplies to power generation stations.
During a meeting he chaired to discuss the project’s implementation requirements and overcome technical and operational obstacles, including the requirements of the Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU), Ismail stressed the importance of completing the project at the lowest possible cost and adhering to the specified timeframes, according to an official statement from his office received by Shafaq News Agency.
Ismail directed the Missan Oil Company, the Oil Pipelines Company, the Missan Energy Company, and the field operator to enhance coordination and cooperation and make use of the equipment and facilities available in the fields, in order to accelerate the completion of the project and invest the targeted quantities of gas.
He pointed to the ministry’s support for joint efforts between the concerned parties, and its keenness to remove obstacles to associated gas investment projects, which reduces gas flaring, enhances the utilization of national resources and supports fuel supplies for the electricity sector.
